Prof. Dr. Rabindarjeet Singh graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) from University of Essex in 1978. He received his Doctorate (PhD) in Physiology from King’s College, London in 1981; subsequently was trained as a post-doctoral fellow at the same Institute until his appointment as a lecturer at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1982. In the year 2000, he became Professor of Sports Science, the first Professor in Sports Science in Malaysia.

Professor Rabindarjeet Singh, is currently the Head of the Lifestyle Science Cluster, at Advanced Medical and Dental Institute, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Bertam, Penang. He was the former Deputy Director for Research and Publications at the same Institute. He was also appointed the Sports Science Consultant to the National Sports Council of Malaysia & National Sports Institute of Malaysia from 2006 to 2008 and recently served as the first Vice-President of the Asian Council for Exercise and Sports Science.

His research interests include: usage of coconut water in sports, the effect of heat and nutritional intervention/supplementation on fluid balance and exercise performance; the relationship between physical activity and healthy aging, the interaction of physical activity with wellness and the effects of Ramadan on performance. Prof. Rabindar’s research presentations had won awards at both local and international conferences. Three of the awards were related to coconut water studies.
