Robert Edward Hogan, MD is a Professor of Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and a nationally recognized expert in adult epilepsy. Dr. Hogan specializes in the diagnosis and management of treatment-resistant epilepsy, including comprehensive evaluations for epilepsy surgery.

Dr. Hogan earned his MD from the University of Missouri–Columbia School of Medicine and completed his neurology residency and chief residency at Case Western Reserve University. He pursued advanced fellowship training in epilepsy, including experience at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He is board-certified in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology.

Actively involved in clinical research, Dr. Hogan’s interests include the pharmacology of antiseizure medications and the use of advanced neuroimaging techniques, such as MRI and SPECT, to improve epilepsy diagnosis and treatment outcomes. He has contributed extensively to clinical trials and scholarly publications aimed at advancing both medical and surgical therapies for epilepsy.

In addition to his academic and clinical roles, Dr. Hogan has held prominent leadership positions within the American Epilepsy Society, including serving as its President, reflecting his longstanding commitment to education, research, and excellence in epilepsy care.
