Qu (Teresa) Tian, Ph.D., is an epidemiologist in the field of aging and geroscience. Trained in neuroepidemiology (Ph.D.), aging (post-doc), and kinesiology (MS), her interdisciplinary research centers on the brain and body crosstalk in the interface between the aging central nervous system and neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Tian joined the NIA in 2013, where she has established a line of research (1) elucidating the complex relationship between physical function and brain aging and neurodegeneration and (2) investigating underlying mechanisms through imaging- and blood-based biomarkers using data from observational studies across the US and Europe.

Dr. Tian serves as lead investigator in several NIA intramural grants and collaborates with intramural and extramural researchers. She has published 70+ peer-reviewed journal manuscripts/book chapters and mentored several trainees. She is the recipient of the Women Scientist Advisors NIA Excellence in Scientific Research Award and NIH Summer Research Mentor Award. Dr. Tian is currently the Associate Scientist of the Translational Gerontology Branch Longitudinal Studies Section, NIA.
