Pushkar P. Waknis MDS, FIBOMS, MFDS, RCPS

He was born on 2nd January 1975 and raised in Mumbai. He has completed his schooling from I E S, Hindu Colony, Dadar. He did his junior college from the prestigious DG Ruparel College Mumbai and secured admission for the course of Bachelor of Dental Surgery. He completed his graduation from Nair Hospital Dental College in 1997 and post-graduation in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 1999 from Government Dental College Mumbai.

He then trained for 2 years to learn advanced Maxillofacial Surgery for performing various surgeries of Oral Cancer and Reconstruction, Cleft Lip and Palate, and Orthognathic surgeries. He joined Dr. D Y Patil Dental College as a Lecturer in August 2001 and is currently working as a Professor. As a student, Pushkar P. Waknis has presented numerous papers at national conferences and won prizes for the same. He was the only First Class in the University of Mumbai for his graduation and was felicitated by the Hon Vice-Chancellor Dr. Snehalata Deshmukh for the same. He has won numerous awards scholarships and prizes in his student career like NTS, Mrs. Indumati Jhaveri Scholarship, and Rustomji Bejonji Vachha Memorial Scholarship. Awards like Late R.M.Narielwala, Late P.M.Bhajiwala, Indian Dental Association Certificate of Merit for standing first in final BDS exam for the subject of Pediatric Dentistry, Indian Society of Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry, Indian Society of Periodontology Colgate Merit Shield, Dr. Soman prize, Late Dr. M A Kothare prize.

He has presented numerous papers to date in national and international conferences and has been an invited Guest Speaker on many occasions for the Annual Conference of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India. He has completed basic training in Microvascular Surgery at Ethicon Institute in June 2004. Advanced training in Microvascular Surgery for 2 weeks in Maastricht University Medical Centre with Prof Dr. Peter Kessler in June 2009 and 6 weeks in the prestigious 9th Peoples Hospital Shanghai under the guidance of Prof Chen-Ping Zhang in June July 2011. He underwent training in advanced Cleft Surgery in Noordoff Craniofacial Foundation, Manila 2016, and University of Heidelberg, Germany 2017.
