Dr. Purna Prasad, Ph.D., offers more than two decades of accomplishment-laden experience pertaining to Clinical Technology and Biomedical Engineering for Stanford Hospital and Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital. He assumed responsibility for all aspects of enterprise-wide clinical and biomedical technology within the Medical Center Information Technology / Information Services division, providing strategic leadership and consulting within the IT executive team. Presently, Dr. Prasad leads a high-performance Clinical Engineering team in Design, Development, Integration of Clinical Hardware, Software and Networking Solutions.
Dr. Prasad is effectively directing the design of clinical technology infrastructure and networks for new facilities, including a $3.1 billion new hospital project at Stanford & Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital. He has successfully implemented ongoing cost-savings and cost-avoidance methodology through innovative in-sourcing and solution development efforts, including cost-savings of $2M in anesthesia equipment maintenance, $750K in ultrasound system maintenance, $100K in Telepresence support, $150K in Cardiac Catheterization Lab IT / biomedical support, and 30% reduction in contract fees for clinical technology support vendors. He also standardized and integrated clinical networking architectures to LAN and TCP/IP model and established the networking core group from existing staff; introduced monitoring network failing-in features.
