Priyanka completed her undergraduate training at JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research), Pondicherry, India in 2006. She joined residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the same institute in April 2007 and gained rich experience through rotational postings to the labour ward, operating theatre and outpatient subspecialty clinics during her junior and senior residency. She received the MS (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) degree in March 2010 and DNB degree in October 2010.
Priyanka relocated to Singapore in 2012 and joined MOHH (Ministry of Health Holdings) as a medical officer in 2013. She received the MRCOG degree (London) in May 2013. She was initially posted to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, KKH (KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital) from May to December 2013. With 830 beds, it is the largest Women’s and Children’s hospital in Singapore. As she had always been interested in urogynaecology, she applied for a clinical fellowship and was fortunate to be accepted. After completing her fellowship, she joined the Department of Urogynaecology, KKH as a Registrar. All through these 11 years, she has been actively involved in clinical research.
Priyanka has extensive experience in both obstetrics and gynaecology- management of high-risk pregnancies, intrapartum surveillance, instrumental deliveries and complicated caesarean sections, and management of obstetrical emergencies. She has independently performed several abdominal and vaginal hysterectomies, Manchester surgery and open myomectomy. She has performed TVTs/TOTs for stress urinary incontinence, performed sacrospinous ligament fixation and vaginal mesh for prolapse under guidance. She is well versed in performing obstetric and gynaecology ultrasound, diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy and cystoscopy.
Priyanka has consistently received an A grade (very good) performance rating over the past 3 years. She strongly believes in following evidence-based medicine and constantly updates herself with guidelines and recommendations from the ACOG and RCOG. She is certified in Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) courses for the improvement of healthcare and has attended several workshops on medicolegal aspects of healthcare by the Medical Protection Society (MPS). She aims to integrate her knowledge, skills and experience in the best possible way to deliver superior care to women with obstetric and gynecologic conditions. She believes in providing medical care with a holistic approach towards the patient- treating her as a physical, emotional and social being.
