Biography :

Dr. Hsue trained in Internal Medicine in the Molecular Medicine Training Program at UC San Francisco and in Cardiovascular Medicine at UC San Francisco. She served as Chief Cardiology Fellow during this time. She has been on the faculty in the Department of Medicine at San Francisco General Hospital since 2002. She started the HIV Cardiology Clinic since March 2004 at the Positive Health Program at Ward 86, which is one of the first subspeciality clinics of its kind in the nation.

Hsue, Priscilla 2014_120Priscilla Hsue, MD is a Professor of Medicine at UCSF. Her research interest is in the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, and treatment of cardiovascular disease and inflammation in HIV-infected patients. As Co-Director of the Center for Vascular Excellence at UCSF, she has extensive experience in ultrasound imaging including assessment of carotid artery intima-media thickness and assessment of endothelial function using flow-mediated vasodilation of the brachial artery and has used both of these techniques to study HIV-infected individuals with the purpose of ascertaining the pathophysiology of HIV-related cardiovascular disease and the role of inflammation in this disease process. She has published widely in the area of HIV-related cardiovascular disease and inflammation including high-impact publications in Circulation, JACC, and AIDS. Dr. Hsue runs the HIV Cardiology Clinic at San Francisco General Hospital and is one of the few cardiologists internationally with clinical as well as research expertise in this area. She is PI of a multicenter clinical trial to evaluate the cardiovascular impact of low dose
