Preetika Sinh MD

Preetika Sinh, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist who focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and disorders of the digestive system, including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, indeterminate colitis, and microscopic colitis. Dr. Sinh is an expert in managing complex cases of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Inflammatory bowel diseases (Crohn's and ulcerative colitis) are chronic, life-altering diseases. "As a physician, I strive to build a long-term relationship with my patients and work with them with shared decision making to control the disease, keeping in mind the latest evidence and patient preference."

An associate professor in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, she trains and mentors medical students, residents, and fellows in the UC San Diego School of Medicine. She is involved in several clinical trials for IBD patients. She also conducts research that focuses on cardiovascular disease in inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Sinh has authored over 60 publications and received both intramural and national funding to support her work. Her contributions have been recognized with multiple awards, including the Women in IBD Crohn's and Colitis Leadership Award. She serves on the editorial board of Inflammatory Bowel Disease Journal and committees of national gastroenterology societies like the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, American College of Gastroenterology, and American Gastroenterology Association.

Dr. Sinh completed a gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center and an advanced fellowship in inflammatory bowel disease atthe  Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. She completed residency training at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. Dr. Sinh earned her medical degree from Lady Hardinge Medical College in India. Before joining UCSD, Dr. Sinh served as a faculty member at Case Western University in Cleveland and the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where she was also the co-chair of clinical research for the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
