Praveen Chandrasekharan MD

Praveen Kumar Chandrasekharan is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UBMD Pediatrics. His training as a medical doctor began in India, where he witnessed unfortunate cases of birth asphyxia and the consequent long-term neurological complications. This left a lasting impression on him and influenced his decision to pursue a career in academic pediatrics and, subsequently, neonatology.

Currently, his work is focused on studying the effect of gas exchange on pulmonary and systemic hemodynamics in both preterm and term models during and after resuscitation. As a faculty at the State University of New York at Buffalo, he has evaluated the effect of placental transfusion during preterm resuscitation. In the future, he intends to explore the combined impact of oxygen use and placental transfusion during preterm resuscitation.
