Prasad Godbole

Mr Godbole has been active in both clinical and academic areas of paediatric urology as well as managerial matters within the Surgical Directorate.Mr Godbole has a special interest and experience in open and minimally invasive paediatric urology and specifically in reconstructive urology, having spent almost two years at Guys and Great Ormond Street Hospital training in Paediatric Urology. He has taken on the responsibility and lead for these cases in Sheffield.

He has used this experience to complement his paediatric and neonatal surgical background in those children with multisystem pathology or in those with an isolated genitourinary condition. He has a special interest in the management of paediatric urinary incontinence and investigations for the same. He has set up a multidisciplinary team for managing these cases.

Mr Godbole enjoys teaching, whether in a clinical setting or non clinical setting. He understands the need for a structured approach to training and is able to lead his junior colleagues through the patients ‘journey’. His main non clinical interest is teaching. As an instructor for the APLS since 1996, he has been regularly involved in instructing on the APLS provider and ALSG instructor courses. He feels at ease and enthusiastic in front of an audience and enjoys utilising various educational techniques to help get the core objectives across. This may be at postgraduate or undergraduate level, medical or nursing or even outside medicine.

Academically, Mr Godbole has been very active during training and remains so to this day. He has varied publications in international journals both in Paediatric Surgery and Paediatric Urology. He has written several chapters in textbooks and has chief editorial responsibility for three textbooks due to be published soon. He has also presented extensively at local, regional, national and international level.
