Prabhakar P. Nayak MRCPCH, MBBS

Prabhakar P. Nayak MRCPCH, MBBS has recently joined as a Senior Attending Physician in PCICU at Sidra Medicine & Research Institute, Doha. He is currently on sabbatical leave from Birmingham Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, UK. His training in Paediatric & Cardiac Intensive Care has spanned across 3 continents and has worked in the UK for nearly two decades. During his professional career, he was the Director of PICU Education & Training at Birmingham PICU, PIC Lead for Paediatric Solid Organ transplantation including liver, small bowel, renal & multi-visceral transplants and West Midlands Regional Lead for Paediatric Simulation.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health (FRPCH) and has served as an expert panelist on the National Confidential Enquiries into Patient Outcome & Death (NCEPOD). He has been an RCPCH Examiner and the Vice-Chair of the RCPCH Exams Board – Video Group and served as the Editor-in-Chief of the ‘RCPCH Paediatric Examiner’ Publications. He is interested in improving patient safety through education and targeted in-situ simulation and has helped in the setting up of the National UK PICSELS group (Paediatric Intensive Care Simulation through Education, Learning and Safety) and been an advisor on the IPSS (International Paediatric Scientific Society) scientific committee.
