Pol Huysmans

Pol Huijsmans studied medicine at the University of Leuven and Leiden, after which he started to specialize in orthopedics at the OLVG in Amsterdam and at UMC Utrecht. After his specialization, he started a fellowship in shoulder surgery at the Cape Shoulder Institute (Dr. Joe de Beer) in Cape Town South Africa, where he worked for two years.

From 2006 to 2017 he worked as a shoulder surgeon in the Haga Hospital and trained assistant trainees to become orthopedic surgeons in performing shoulder operations and knee surgery.

In the Netherlands he has the most experience with ultrasound of the shoulder as orthopedic surgeon, so that a diagnosis can often be made quickly and clearly. Pol Huijsmans has a very rich experience with all shoulder operations including: (3D) shoulder prostheses, rotator cuff repairs (stitching of the tendons) and operations for shoulder instability.
