Professor Poh Chit Laa is a Distinguished Professor and currently Head of the Centre for Virus and Vaccine Research s at Sunway University. Professor Poh obtained her first-class BSc (Hons) and PhD in Science, majoring in Microbiology, from Monash University (Australia) before joining renowned institutions such as National University of Singapore, Curtin University of Technology, Swinburne University and University of Malaya. She is on the Editorial Committee of the Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering, published by the Fermentation Society of Japan.
Poh Chit Laa has published 96 ISI-cited journal papers and co-authored four book chapters. Her current research interests focus on the development of antiviral agents and novel vaccines against Enterovirus 71 and the dengue virus. She is collaborating with researchers from Oxford University, UK and Monash University, Australia to develop synthetic peptide and nanovaccines against dengue. Other collaborations include, the development of vaccines against Enterovirus 71 and antibiotic resistant bacteria with University of Malaya.
