Piotr Szymański, MD, Ph.D., FESC is Chairman of the EU Regulatory Affairs Committee board of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). He represents the ESC in front of the European Commission, and the European Parliament, in matters related to European health regulations (including under the EU4Health, EHDS, and HTA projects.
Vice-chairman of the Transparency Council of AOTMiT. He reviewed a total of over 500 HTA (Health Technology Assessment) reports in various fields of medicine.
Member of international expert teams, including 1) European Health Technology Assessment Network (EUNetHTA), 2) Next Generation Health Technology Assessment to support patient-centered, societally oriented, real-time decision-making on access and reimbursement for health technologies throughout Europe (H2020), 3) MDCG – Post Market Surveillance and Vigilance (PMSV) Working Group (European Commission), 4) IMPACT-HTA project (London School of Economics), CORE-MD Project.
He has published over 200 scientific papers and chapters in books, incl. in the best scientific journals such as The Lancet, European Heart Journal, Circulation, and many others. Works are cited in many international standards of practice/consensus documents and manuals.
