Pierre Goussard PhD

Prof. Pierre Goussard is the Clinical Unit Head: Paediatric Pulmonology and Paediatric Intensive Care at Tygerberg Children’s Hospital and the chair of Tygerberg Children’s Hospital Trust. Tygerberg Children`s Hospital acts as a referral center for complicated cases including diseases like Tuberculosis, HIV, complicated pneumonia as well as complicated airway pathology, and congenital lesions. He is responsible for pediatric bronchoscopes, seeing 350 cases per year which include flexible bronchoscopes and rigid bronchoscopes. We also do a large number of different interventional procedures. His research fields included airway disease due to tuberculosis as well as new diagnostic methods using BAL in tuberculosis and other diseases. He completed his Ph.D.
