Pierre Bedossa MD, PhD

Pierre Bedossa, MD, PhD, is Professor of Pathology at the University Paris-Diderot, France. He is currently Head of the Department of Pathology, Physiology and Nuclear Medicine at the Group Hospitalier Paris Nord. Dr. Bedossa is Chairman and Head of the Department of Pathology at Beaujon Hospital, Paris.

Pierre Bedossa is a globally-recognized specialist and thought leader in liver pathology. He is the leader of the METAVIR group and of the FLIP pathology consortium. Dr. Bedossa has developed new liver disease scoring systems in chronic hepatitis and NAFLD. His research interests are focused on pathology of NAFLD, cellular mechanisms leading to progression and regression of liver fibrosis and in-situ mass spectrometry for biomarker detection.

From 2001 to 2013, Dr. Bedossa had served as Director of the Research Unit “Pathophysiology of Liver Diseases “(CNRS) and as the Team Leader of “Cirrhosis and Liver Cancer Group” at the Center for Biomedical Research, INSERM U773, Paris, France.
