Dr. Borelli graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1979 at the University of Milan and subsequently specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology in 1984 at the same university, and in Hand Surgery in 1987 at the University of Modena Studies. In 1984 in Paris he attended the Hand Surgery Center of the Hospital Boucicout (Prof. Lemerle) and the Upper Limb Surgery Center of the Hospital Bichat (Prof. Alnot). He then attended the Royal National Orthopedic Hospital in London in 1985 (Prof. Bircher), while the following year he collaborated with the Harvard Medical School of Massachusett's General Hospital in Boston, within the Hand Surgery Service (Prof. Smith), of the Brachial Plexus Surgery Center (Prof. Leffert), and the Department of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery (Prof. May).

In 1988 he then carried out his activity at the Medical University of Sao Paulo in Brazil, at the Laboratory of Microsurgery and Plastic Surgery Service (Prof. Ferreira), and at the Hand Surgery and Microsurgery Service (Dr. Ronaldo). ; in the same year he also collaborated with the University of California of San Francisco (USA), at the Division of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery and at the Center for Microsurgery for Reimplantation and Transplantation and for Hand Surgery. During the 1990s he also attended the Institut Francais de la Main and the Institut Francais de Chirurgie de la Main in Paris, in addition to the Rheumatoid Hand Surgery Center at the Schulthess Klinik in Zurich and the Mayo Clinic Hand Surgery Center (Prof. Cooney) in Rochester, Minnesota. Until 31 October 2017, he was Director of "High Specialization in Hand Surgery, Wrist Surgery" at the First Division of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Spedali Civili Hospital of Brescia.

Currently, Dr. Borelli works as a freelancer at affiliated nursing homes in the province of Brescia and Cremona, and mainly deals with: Treatment of Dupuytren's disease with Collagenase, Second Opinion in therapeutic strategies Wrist and Hand Fractures, Legal Medical Advice for quantification of permanent sequelae in wrist and hand fractures.
