Dr. Pier Francesco Alesina is a Head of the Clinic for Endocrine Surgery at Helios University Hospital Wuppertal in Germany. Currently Dr. Alesina is interested in endocrine surgery, laparoscopic surgery of the digestive system, and oncological surgery. The Center where he worked was one of the first in Germany to adopt modern laparoscopic surgery techniques for the treatment of endocrine pathologies, of the colorectal and in general in pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and pancreas. These methods will also be practiced daily at Gemelli Molise, as part of a radical innovation process that will involve all the facility's specialists.
His interest in the field of laparoscopic abdominal surgery is significant. He achieved 2012 the certification of the Kliniken Essen-Mitte as a Center for colorectal cancer by the Deutsche Krebsgesellschaft. In 2017, the Kliniken Essen-Mitte cancer center expanded its care offer, among the first in Germany, obtaining certification as a reference center for stomach and gastro-esophageal joint cancer.
He has performed as the first operator of over 7000 operations including numerous highly complex oncological surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and endocrine surgery including minimally invasive and over 1000 laparoscopic procedures on the abdomen. In addition, he has performed various robotic surgeries, from anti-reflux plastic surgery to complex gastrectomy and esophagectomy for carcinoma.
