Dr Phuc LeHoang is Professor and Chair of Ophthalmology at the Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital at Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris (France). His ophthalmology residency in different major departments of Ophthalmology in Paris was simultaneously completed with a Master of Sciences in Biochemistry and an education at the Pasteur Institute leading to a degree of PhD in Immunology. Two years later he was nominated as Professor of Ophthalmology in 1985, he spent a 14 month sabbatical period as Visiting Scientist at the National Eye Institute (NIH, Bethesda, USA) with Dr R.B. Nussenblatt, Dr R. Caspi and Dr C.C. Chan.
Dr LeHoang has published over 250 papers in peer reviewed literature as well as 9 book chapters and co-edited with Prof. Bahram Bodaghi the book “uveite” – Elsevier 2009. He is lecturing all over the world and is an investigator on numerous projects dealing with research, medical and surgical management in the field of ocular inflammation.
He has participated in the organization of several international meetings and is currently the immediate Past-President of the International Ocular Inflammation Society. He is serving as colonel (reserve) in the French army and received the Medal of Voluntary Military Services. He has been nominated Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur, Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Academiques.
