Phillip O. Coffin, MD, is director of Substance Use Research at the San Francisco Department of Public Health and assistant clinical professor in the HIV/AIDS Division at the University of California San Francisco. He is a board-certified internist and infectious disease clinician with active practices, including HIV care, infectious disease consultation, and hospital medicine. His research interests focus on substance use, where he serves as principal investigator and director for clinical trials and evaluation research of pharmacologic and behavioral interventions addressing the use and medical sequelae of methamphetamine, opioids, and alcohol.
