Dr. Phillip Monaghan BSc, MSc, Ph.D., FRCPath, EuSpLM after completing a Ph.D. in protein biochemistry at the University of Leicester Monaghan commenced training in clinical biochemistry at Wirral University Teaching Hospital, Alder Hey and University Hospital of South Manchester. Monaghan has been a Clinical Scientist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and later Christie Pathology Partnership for over 5 years. Monaghan is an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Manchester in the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences, Institute of Inflammation and Repair.
Monaghan is a member of the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM) Working Group for Test Evaluation (WG-TE). currently Deputy Chair of the Association for Clinical Biochemistry (ACB) Scientific Committee: Working Group on Traceability and Harmonisation of Calibration (WGTHC). Special interests include test evaluation, biochemical endocrinology & neuroendocrinology. Monaghan was awarded the Silver Research Medal from the Royal College of Pathologists for work on cortisol measurement.
