Phillip Ge MD

Phillip S. Ge, MD, FASGE, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he also serves as Patient Quality and Safety Officer, Associate Medical Director of Endoscopy, and Associate Director of the Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship program. He is recognized for his expertise in advanced therapeutic endoscopy, endoscopic resection, colorectal neoplasia, gastrointestinal oncology, and innovative endoscopic technologies.

Dr. Ge earned his Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and his Doctor of Medicine from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He completed his internship, residency, and gastroenterology fellowship training at UCLA Medical Center before pursuing advanced endoscopy and endoscopic submucosal dissection fellowships at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Since joining MD Anderson in 2018, Dr. Ge has developed a distinguished academic career focused on advancing minimally invasive endoscopic therapies for gastrointestinal cancers and complex digestive diseases. His research spans endoscopic mucosal resection, endoscopic submucosal dissection, full-thickness resection, artificial intelligence–assisted colonoscopy, neuroendocrine tumors, and novel endoscopic techniques. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and clinical guidelines, contributing significantly to the evolving field of interventional endoscopy.

A nationally and internationally recognized educator, Dr. Ge frequently lectures at major gastroenterology and endoscopy conferences and serves in leadership roles with professional societies, including the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the Texas Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He also holds editorial positions with leading endoscopy journals and has received numerous honors for clinical excellence, teaching, research, and peer review, including recognition as an MD Anderson Top 1% Provider and multiple ASGE award recipient.

Dr. Ge is widely regarded as a leader in advanced endoscopic oncology, dedicated to improving patient outcomes through innovation, education, and high-quality, evidence-based care.
