Philip R. Muskin MD, MA

Philip Muskin, M.D., M.A. begins his term as Secretary of the American Psychiatric Association at the end of the APA Annual Meeting in May 2017. Dr. Muskin is a Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center.

Dr. Muskin is a distinguished fellow of the APA and is an Associate Editor at American Psychiatric Association Publishing. Dr. Muskin has served on several councils and committees during his time as an APA member. He has been a member of APA’s Scientific Program Committee since 1990, serving as chairperson from 2016 to 2017 and 2000 to 2002. Dr. Muskin was a member of the Council on Psychosomatic Medicine from 2004 to 2009 and served as the chair of the council from 2004 to 2006. He has also served on the Committees on CME/Lifelong Learning and C-L Psychiatry & Primary Care Education. He has also served as the editor of Psychiatric News PsychoPharm since 2015.
