Dr.Philip's field is biostatistics. He has worked for more than 35 years in the pharmaceutical industry. At NovoNordisk, he was doing pre-clinical work, non-clinical work, epidemiological studies, and clinical studies, mostly within diabetes. At Lundbeck, it is mostly clinical work, across the projects, and in the CNS area.
From a scientific perspective, his PhD thesis was on nonlinear models and parametrizations and one of my suggestions has been implemented in SAS proc nlin. His later degree as Doctor of Science was based on frailty models for survival data, and this work is part of my book “Analysis of multivariate survival data” (Springer, 2000). Some other interests are adaptive studies, biomarkers, dose-finding, multiple testing, repeated measurements, and interval-censored survival data. He was associate editor of Biostatistics, Lifetime Data Analysis, and Scandinavian Journal of Statistics. He is guest editor of Statistics in Medicine for a special issue covering the 2013 ISCB conference. He has an honorary position as an external professor at the University of Southern Denmark.
