Phil Cartagena MBA, PMP, CPHIMS

F. Phil Cartagena, Jr. is currently Chapter President where he is helping the board focus on strategic initiatives. He previously served as the chapter’s AVP for Professional Development Conference from 2015-2018, joined the board in 2016 as VP of Finance, and more recently as its Executive Vice President in 2021.

Phil is a well-rounded expert with over 20 years of experience in program management, business process redesign, and custom and package technology implementations. Currently a Senior Delivery Principle at Slalom Consulting, Mr. Cartagena has advised healthcare and other organizations on PMO setup, governance implementation, and the efficient management of their portfolios. Earlier as a program manager and terminologist at PHS (now MGB), he managed a team of project managers in the Epic PMO and also led an ICD-10 remediation effort.

Phil has a BA in computer science from Harvard University, an MBA from Columbia Business School, and certifications from PMI, HL7, and HIMSS. He is also an adjunct Professor at Boston University.
