Petter Mathias Bjornstad MD

Dr. Petter Bjornstad is a Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine, and Raisbeck Endowed Chair of Diabetes Research. He also serves as the Executive Director of the UW Medicine Diabetes Institute and as a Principal Investigator at the Center for Clinical and Translational Research at SCRI. His research program is funded by NIH/NIDDK, NIH/NHLBI, Breakthrough T1D, ADA, AHA, and industry.

Dr. Bjornstad also serves as an Associate Editor of JASN and Cardiovascular Diabetology, editorial board member of Diabetes Care and Journal of Diabetes and its Complications, and board member of the European Diabetic Nephropathy Study Group. He is a recipient of several awards, including the American Society of Clinical Investigation (ASCI) Young Physician-Scientist Award, the JDRF Dr. Robert Goldstein Award, the Young Investigator Awards from the International Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes and the Endocrine Society, and a Research Award from the Society of Pediatric Research. Dr. Bjornstad spends his non-research time seeing patients in the diabetes clinic.
