Dr. Peter Pisters is the fifth President at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. MD Anderson, based in Houston, Texas, is one of the world’s most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education, and prevention. Prior to returning to MD Anderson, he was the President & CEO of University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto, Ontario. UHN is an integrated health, research, and education system that includes Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and the Michener Institute of Education at UHN.
Dr. Pisters is an internationally recognized health system leader and academic surgeon. Prior to joining UHN, he spent 20 years at MD Anderson as an academic surgeon, clinical researcher, and executive leader. He served as a Vice-President with leadership over MD Anderson’s expansion strategy and multi-site metropolitan Houston operations.
