After studying human medicine and completing his doctorate at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Dr. Rubenwolf initially worked in Switzerland at the Glarus Cantonal Hospital and then at the Würzburg University Urological Clinic, where he became familiar with the entire spectrum of surgical urology, including kidney transplantation.

He has been a Fellow of the European Board of Urology since 2005. In 2006 he went to the Jack Birch Unit for Molecular Carcinogenesis at the University of York, England, as a DFG (German Research Foundation) scholarship holder with Professor Jennifer Southgate. After returning from Great Britain, Dr. Rubenwolf received a 2-year fellowship at the St. Hedwig Clinic in Regensburg with the internationally renowned pediatric urologist Professor Dr. Wolfgang Rösch. He has been a Fellow of the European Academy of Pediatric Urology since May 2012 (additional qualification as a pediatric urologist certified by the European Society of Pediatric Urology).

To further deepen his surgical spectrum and habilitation, Dr. Rubenwolf from 2012 to 2014 at the University Medical Center Mainz with Professor Dr. JW Thüroff and Professor Dr. R. Stein works as a senior physician. His surgical focus is plastic-reconstructive surgery of the urinary tract and genitals as well as pediatric urology. He completed his habilitation in 2014 and received the license to teach urology at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz in the same year. In 2018 he was appointed adjunct professor at the Goethe University Frankfurt.
