Prof. Kennedy holds the Burton Chair of Neurology at the University of Glasgow since 1987. He is also Consultant Neurologist at the Institute of Neurological Sciences in the Southern General Hospital, Glasgow and head of the division of clinical neurosciences. He is a world leader in the study of African Sleeping Sickness. His work involved frequent research visits to the African field, and, using a well-established mouse model, his group has developed a novel oral form of the toxic intravenous drug melarsoprol for late-stage (CNS) disease. He has published over 200 scientific articles.
