Dr. Peter J. Hills, MSC, Ph.D. is a Professor and Head Of Psychology at the Bournemouth University. He completed his BSc in Psychology at Cardiff University in 2003 and remained there to do his MSc and Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Michael Lewis. His thesis concerned the development of face recognition and the flexibility of face space. Subsequently, I became a lecturer, then senior lecturer, at Anglia Ruskin University before moving to Bournemouth University in November 2014.
His research is primarily focused on face recognition and perception. He has published articles on the own-group biases in face recognition, the face-inversion effect, the transference of processing styles, the effects of mood on face recognition, and adaptation in addition to his work on the development of face recognition. In order to investigate these areas, he employs stringent behavioral tests in addition to measuring eye movements and fixation data. He has also used EEG and tDCS to measure and stimulate brain activity during face-processing tasks.
