Dr. Peter Phung is a palliative care physician who provides inpatient care at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Westwood and UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica. He specializes in providing personalized, family-centered care to patients with serious illness. Dr. Phung meets each patient where they are at, and learns about their values and goals so that he can help them improve their quality of life. It starts with a conversation and can result in a plan to provide better symptom management, support for caregivers, and improved communication with providers. He is board certified in internal medicine and palliative medicine.

Dr. Phung received his medical degree from St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies. He then completed his internal medicine residency at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, and his fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at UC San Diego. He received his Master of Business Administration from UC San Diego, and his Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from UC Irvine. In 2017, Dr. Phung co-founded the 3 Wishes Project, an in-hospital program in both Westwood and Santa Monica that offers patients at the end of their lives the opportunity to make any final wishes. The goal of the 3 Wishes Project is to improve end of life care by humanizing and personalizing the dying experience.
