Dr. Clardy is an Attending Physician in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he has served as the Director of Medical Intensive Care since 2006. Dr. Clardy is an honors graduate of Yale College, where he majored in the History of Science and Medicine. Following a year working in Northwest New Mexico for the Indian Health Service, he attended the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he was elected to AOA.

He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and received his fellowship training in the Harvard Combined Program in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Following the completion of his postgraduate training, he joined the faculty at BIDMC and was named Deputy Editor for Pulmonary and Critical Care at UpToDate, Inc, a computer-based reference for physicians.
