Peter Blanpied, Ph.D., PT, OCS, FAAOMPT is a Professor in the Physical Therapy Department at the University of Rhode Island where his academic focus is on biomechanics and musculoskeletal therapeutics. He has a BS in physical therapy from Ithaca College, an advanced MS in physical therapy from the University of North Carolina, and a Ph.D. in physical therapy from the University of Iowa. He has been a Physical Therapist for over 35years, and is a Board Certified Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, and is Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
Peter Blanpied has practiced in hospital inpatient and outpatient, extended care, and private practice settings. He currently sees patients in addition to his academic responsibilities at URI. He has participated in many continuing education programs and is active in the APTA and the AAOMPT and has been a Reviewer or an Associate Editor for the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy for over 20 years. His scholarly products include numerous peer-reviewed publications, national and international presentations, and a book chapter. He lives in West Kingston, RI with his wife Carol (also a PT).
