Dr. Born in Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Baik immigrated to the U.S. with his family when he was 12 years old. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology at the University of Texas at Austin. He completed his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri in 2005 earning several academic awards.

Dr. Baik has completed several years of specialty training. After interning for a year at the Brown Family Residency Program in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, he was a resident in general surgery at St. Barnabas Hospital in Bronx, New York, and then at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, California, where he served as Chief Resident in General Surgery from 2010 to 2011.

In 2011 he became a resident in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. From 2013 to 2014 he completed a fellowship in minimally invasive esophageal and thoracic surgery at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. He joined CTCA in July 2014.

Dr. Baik is board certified in general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. He holds a medical license from Oklahoma, Illinois, and California. He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. In 2017, he was named to the Quality Oncology Practice Initiatives Task Force of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. He was also elected as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Cardio-Thoracic Division of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He has presented research on various issues of thoracic surgery at several professional meetings.

Dr. Baik also serves as an adjunct clinical assistant professor in surgery at the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and as an adjunct clinical assistant professor at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
