Dr. Banks is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Center for Pancreatic Disease at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The Center provides a multi-disciplinary approach for patients with a pancreatic disease, conducts clinical research to find more effective ways to diagnose and treat pancreatic disease, and provides a program to educate the next generation of pancreatic specialists.

Dr. Banks’s research interests in the pancreatic field include earlier recognition of severe acute pancreatitis, newer therapies for acute pancreatitis, newer therapy of pain in chronic pancreatitis, and recognition and treatment of cystic neoplasms of the pancreas.

Dr. Banks is Director of the Clinical Academic Training Program in Gastroenterology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is a Past-President of both the American Pancreatic Association and the International Association of Pancreatology.
