Dr. Peter Adamczyk is the Mead Witter Foundation Associate Professor in the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and is also a Faculty Affiliate in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Adamczyk directs the UW Biomechatronics, Assistive Devices, Gait Engineering and Rehabilitation Laboratory (UW BADGER Lab), which aims to enhance physical and functional recovery from orthopedic and neurological injury through advanced robotic devices.

We study the mechanisms by which these injuries impair normal motion and coordination, and target interventions to encourage recovery and/or provide biomechanical assistance. Our work primarily addresses impairments affecting walking, running, and standing. Dr. Adamczyk received his B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, followed by his M.S.E. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
