Dr. Lalle was awarded the Bachelor in Arts degree in 1974 from the University of Virginia, the O.D. degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1978 and completed residency training in hospital-based optometry in 1980 at the Fort Howard and Baltimore VA hospitals in association with the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital. Asked to join the medical staff after residency, he has developed a comprehensive system of the eye and outpatient eye clinics within the VA Maryland Health Care System that includes optometry residency and externship programs and a cadre of clinical staff for which he serves as a chief administrative officer and senior optometrist.
He has received two VA Commendation Awards for Performance, the Outstanding Faculty Externship Award, The Case of the Month award from Hahnemann Hospital’s Department of Ophthalmology and, as a student, the Clinical Excellence Award and was Chair of the Student Optometric Service to Haiti 1976-78.
