Dr. PA Borggreven studied medicine at the University of Leiden, where he obtained his medical exam in 1998. During his studies, he conducted scientific research in Cape Town (Tygerberg Hospital), South Africa. After working as a doctor at the General Surgery Department of the Bronovo hospital in The Hague, he followed his training as an ENT doctor at the VU medical center in Amsterdam until 2004.

From 2004 to 2006 he worked as a staff member at the VUmc and as chef de clinique within the ENT surgery partnership in the Hilversum hospital. At the VUmc, he introduced the BAHA "bone-anchored hearing aid", an implantable hearing aid. He also conducted extensive scientific research into the surgical treatment of mouth and throat cancer. In 2005 he successfully defended the thesis "Surgical treatment with the microvascular reconstruction of oral and oropharyngeal cancer". He has been working at the Diakonessenhuis since 2006. Between 2009 and 2016, he and his colleagues also partly worked at the Hofpoort hospital in Woerden to put ear surgery on the map.

Within the Diakonessenhuis, Dr. Borggreven focuses mainly on the areas of attention as described above. In addition to his daily clinical activities, he has also been committed to ancillary activities within and outside the hospital for years. For example, he has been chairman of the hospital calamity committee for several years and also chairman of the ENT Training Foundation. He is also closely involved in the training of ENT physician assistants as a deputy trainer. Every year he and his colleagues organize specific education for general practitioners as well as a live ear surgery conference where the unique technique of glass implantation is shown.
