Dr. Pedro E. Santiago received his dental degree from the University of Puerto Rico, School of Dental Medicine in 1989. He then moved to Rochester, New York where he underwent post-doctoral studies in Orthodontics at the Eastman Dental Center and Pharmacology and Dental Research at the University of Rochester. In 1995, he was accepted as the first craniofacial orthodontic fellow at the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at the New York University Medical Center in Manhattan where he received a certificate in Craniofacial Orthodontics. Dr. Santiago also holds a master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Healthcare Management from Creighton University in Nebraska.

Dr. Santiago was the founder, professor, and director of the Orthodontic Graduate Program and the Center for Craniofacial Disorders at the University of Puerto Rico (1997-2008). He has published many scientific articles and book chapters in international orthodontic and surgical journals. He has lectured in national and international meetings in over 30 countries. He is currently the Director of Oral Health, Director of Craniofacial Orthodontics, and the Co-director of the Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Team at Duke University’s Division of Plastic Surgery.
