Pedro N. Brito is a Doctor Specialist in Ophthalmology since 2013. He spent his entire professional career at university hospitals in Porto. He completed the Specific Training Internship in Ophthalmology at the Hospital de São João, having shown from an early age a great appetite for the surgical and scientific component of the specialty. He has actively participated and with a special interest in hundreds of surgeries such as complex cataract surgery, replacement, and repositioning of intraocular lenses, corneal transplants, or vitrectomy via pars plano and/or scleral indentation Published as the first author of several scientific articles in renowned international journals

Currently and in addition to the experience he has acquired in all aspects of Ophthalmology, he dedicates his work preferably to the following techniques: - Cataract surgery using the latest technology and the implantation of intraocular lenses that aim to obtain the best vision without the need for glasses. - Correction of refractive errors such as myopia and/or astigmatism by excimer and femtosecond LASER (“LASIK/PRK”) - Diagnosis, staging, and treatment of vascular diseases of the retina (diabetic retinopathy, age macular disease, venous occlusions,...), having extensive experience with the latest intravitreal drugs

In addition to clinical activity, he continues to maintain an important scientific dimension, participating as a speaker at international congresses, participating in clinical trials as a medical researcher in the field of vascular diseases of the retina, advisor of theses for the Integrated Master in Medicine, there is still an ongoing project of its own research that aims to understand the inflammatory mechanisms underlying diabetic macular edema Dedicated to the latest technologies and advances in medical knowledge, it quickly adopts new medical-surgical techniques that demonstrate proven efficacy and safety in the treatment of eye diseases
