Payam Zarin PhD

Payam Zarin is Associate Director and Research Lead at GentiBio, where he helps develop novel strategies to harness the power of regulatory T cells in ameliorating autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases. His keen interest in immune tolerance and Tregs in particular began in 2007 following consecutive internships in the laboratories of Diane Mathis / Christophe Benoist at Harvard Medical School and Alexander Rudensky at MSKCC. Payam then completed his PhD work in the Department of Immunology at the University of Toronto, where he focused on the role of environmental cues in programming hematopoietic stem cells towards functional immune subsets. Before joining GentiBio, Payam worked as a Banting Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School within the Benoist/ Mathis group, where he investigated a functional role for Foxp3-induced genes in the maintenance of peripheral tolerance in the context of disease.
