Paulina Ferreira RN, BN, MSN

Paulina Ferreira began her career as a Registered Nurse at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and soon realized that her love for teaching and nursing was best served by becoming the Professional Practice Leader/Educator on the Orthopaedics/Trauma unit. Never one to shy away from challenges, Paulina joined North York General Hospital (NYGH) in 2004 shortly after SARS and as the Clinical Nurse Educator, she worked with the team to rebuild the Orthopaedics unit. Paulina’s specialty has been to help teams rebuild “from the ground up” by going back to basics.

She is known to always give 110% and is highly respected for her knowledge and experience in the clinical care areas of Orthopaedics/Trauma, General Surgery, Vascular Access, Preoperative Assessment Clinic and Day Surgery. Paulina is involved in many quality improvement initiates such as Quality Based Procedures for Tonsillectomy, Hip & Knee Integrated Care Collaborative, Hip Fractures, and the Canadian Medical Association’s Choosing Wisely Campaign2. Lastly, Paulina attended the “Educating Health Professionals in Interprofessional Care” certificate course offered through the University of Toronto’s Centre for Interprofessional Education and implemented the first interprofessional malnutrition screening tool on the orthopaedic unit at NYGH.
