Paula Miotto BKIN, MSc, PhD

Paula M. Miotto is a Research Fellow in Lipid Metabolism at the University of Melbourne. Dr. Miotto’s current work mainly focuses on the role of small extracellular vesicles in regulating inter-tissue communication, cell signaling (acute), and metabolic adaptations (chronic) in response to exercise and diseased states. A few of the specialized techniques she uses involve various metabolic functional measurements in vivo, ex vivo, and in cell culture, proteomics/phosphoproteomics, precision cut tissue slicing, and mitochondrial kinetics/reactive oxygen species measurements using high-resolution respirometry (Oroboros; isolated mitochondria and permeabilized tissues).
