For 12 years she has been a senior researcher in the BIONANODEN group with a national contract from CIBER-BBN (Consortium for the Biomedical Research Network in Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine). In 2020 she joined the Department of Organic Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry as an assistant professor through the UAH talent retention call and in September 2021 she obtained the position of Full Professor at the University. Dr. Paula Ortega is one of the leaders of the BIONANODEN group in the research lines “Vehicle of peptides and molecules with biological activity against infectious diseases and cancer therapy”, “Metalodendrimers as antitumor and antibacterial agents” and “polyphenolic dendritic systems with antioxidant activity for use in cosmetics and biomedicine” which have generated in the last 5 years the defense of 3 doctoral theses and 26 publications in international journals in the field of biomedicine, most of them in the first quartile and some in the first decile of those in her specialty.
