Paul Santiago, MD, joins the Department of Neurological Surgery as assistant professor, specializing in minimally invasive spinal surgery, complex disorders of the spine and spinal cord, spinal instrumentation and traumatic disorders of the nervous system in addition to general neurosurgery.

Dr. Santiago is a Stanford University graduate and earned his medical degree from Yale University in New Haven, CT. He completed a general surgery internship and neurosurgical residency at the University of Washington, Seattle. He also completed a spine fellowship at the University of Chicago Hospitals.

His areas of clinical interest include complex disorders of the spine and spinal cord. He has extensive training in minimally invasive spinal surgery, including endoscopic spinal surgery, spinal instrumentation, and the management of cranial and spinal injury. Dr. Santiago is pursuing scientific investigation into the molecular basis of tumor metastasis to bone and the treatment of cancer-related pain in the spine
