Paul Martin Darden MD

A noted primary care researcher with a long track record in primary care research, including practice-based research, he has worked with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) practice-based research network, Pediatric Research in Office Settings (PROS) for almost 20 years. He was instrumental in the development of the Academic Pediatric Association’s (APA) continuity clinic-based research network, Continuity Research Network (CORNET), and was the founding director of the South Carolina Pediatric Practice Research Network (SCPPRN). He has a history of developing researchers and academic programs. Before he left MUSC at the end of 2008, 6 of the 9 full-time MUSC division members had completed clinical research fellowship training, and had active research interests. Division extramural funding for 2007-2008 totaled over $889,000. He is Director of the fellowship program, and will serve as Core Faculty as well as mentor students.
