Dr. Paul DiMuzio was born and raised in Philadelphia, where he continues to live with his wife. Together they have raised three highly successful adults. After completing his BA at Johns Hopkins (1985), he received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania (1989). He then trained at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in general surgery, followed by a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (1996). After his clinical training, he returned to Jefferson where he now serves as the William M. Measey Professor of Surgery and Director of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. He completed an MBA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2018).

Dr. DiMuzio has many interests outside of the clinical arena. He ran an NIH-funded laboratory that developed an artificial artery composed of adult stem cells for over a decade. Teaching has been a large part of his career as he started Jefferson's Fellowship in Vascular Surgery in 2008. He has been elected as a Distinguished Fellow in the SVS (2013) as well as a member of the American Surgical Society (2017).

He has served on the Editorial Board of several journals, most importantly the Journal of Vascular Surgery. He is an avid sportsman, having wrestled through college and coached all of his children in wrestling and baseball. He and his wife Carla play competitive golf and bridge at the Philadelphia Cricket Club and are active members of the Union League of Philadelphia.
