Paul F. Lachiewicz, MD is a professor of orthopaedics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He specializes in primary and revision total hip and total knee arthroplasty. He has an active clinical research program with a special interest in thromboembolism prophylaxis and revision surgery. He has been a faculty member of the AAOS Orthopaedic Learning Center total knee course three times, and total hip course for five consecutive years, and a co-director of the hip course in 2007 and 2008. He is an active member of The Hip Society and The Knee Society, and has served on the Board of Directors of both organizations.

Dr. Lachiewicz has also been active in the North Carolina Orthopaedic Association, Eastern Orthopaedic Association, and Southern Orthopaedic Association. He was co-program chair for the 2007 combined EOA/SOA annual meeting. He serves as a reviewer for both the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research.

Dr. Lachiewicz attended medical school at Cornell University Medical College, and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery and a fellowship in arthritis at the Hospital for Special Surgery. He has been a member of the faculty of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since the completion of his fellowship in 1983. He has published extensively and lectured widely on a variety of topics related to adult hip and knee reconstruction.
