Paul Baas MD, PhD

Dr P. Baas has been appointed professor by special appointment of Thoracic Oncology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Amsterdam (AMC-UvA). The chair was designated on behalf of the Netherlands Cancer Institute-Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital (NKI-AVL). Dr P. Paul Baas focuses his attention as a tutor and head of the NKI-AVL’s Department of Thoracic Oncology on the development of new therapies and the treatment of lung cancer and malignant mesothelioma. As part of the collaboration with the AMC, Baas is trying to optimize patients’ referral between the institutes to ensure that diagnostic procedures and therapies can be conducted at the highest level. He considers it a great opportunity to guide motivated, young pulmonary residents and to transfer the latest developments in lung cancer. Moreover, Baas is engaged in the development of translational research and the supervision of doctoral students.
