Dr. Patrick Munk is a microbiologist and Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark, specializing in genomics, bioinformatics, and data science. His research focuses on understanding the epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), particularly how resistance genes spread across genomes, ecosystems, and hosts over time and space.

Dr. Munk leads interdisciplinary research initiatives, including a NordForsk network connecting researchers across six Nordic universities, and is a recipient of the NNF Data Science Emerging Investigator grant. He also represents the National Food Institute in the Danish AMR Alliance, collaborating with stakeholders across academia, industry, and public health sectors.

In addition to his research, he is actively involved in teaching, where he leads an MSc course in applied metagenomics, and is passionate about science communication. He has spearheaded outreach projects supported by organizations such as the Carlsberg Foundation, producing popular science content and engaging with broader audiences. He currently chairs the science communication committee of the Young Academy of Denmark.
